Spring 2026 Concerts

A concert honoring Arvīds Purvs (1926 – 2023) marking the centenary of his birth.

Conductor, composer and administrator extraordinaire, Arvīds Purvs was President of the Toronto Latvian Concert Association from 1967 to 2007 and was a driving force
behind all the Latvian Song Festivals in Canada for more than 40 years.

This concert will feature compositions by Arvīds and others, sung by choristers and soloists who over the years sang in his many choirs or worked with him on his countless musical projects.

A Church service and concert marking the 50th anniversary of the purchase and installation of the magnificent Casavant Freres organ at St. John’s Latvian Lutheran
Church (in 1976).

This concert, sponsored by the Latvian Guild of Organists (Canada) and Anita and Ivars Gaide will feature a new sacred work by Ivars Gaide, several organists, including Anita Gaide, Vija Kluchert and Vita Kalnciema from Latvia as well as vocal soloists Dace Začs, Valdis Jevtejevs and Rev. Ivars Gaide.

This concert marks the North American launch of their new CD Echoes of Latvia with violinist Laura Zariņa and pianist Agnese Egliņa from Latvia.

Supported by and in cooperation with TILTS and the Latvian National Federation in Canada (LNAK), this concert will feature many works by Latvian women composers,
both contemporary and historical.
